Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) field-tested a homegrown drone – Hamasseh (Epic) during a three-day military drill in southeast Iran on Tuesday.

The drone is capable of carrying out surveillance, reconnaissance, and strike missions simultaneously and can do long flights at high altitude. It was being deployed as part of military maneuvers for the first time since being unveiled two years ago.

It was being flown together with the IRGC’s Mohajer (Migrant), Ababil, Shahed (Observer) drones during Payambar-e Azam (The Great Prophet) military exercise, Tasnim reported on Tuesday.

According to IRGC Ground Force Commander Brigadier General Mohammad Pakpour, the drill keeps IRGC units on their toes, displays how well-prepared the forces are and assures security in the region.

In addition to ordinary IRGC units, Airborne and Special Forces units took part in the drill.

Tasnim reported that IRGC units also conducted hostage rescue operations on Tuesday morning, with ground troops using T-72 tanks and BMP-2 personnel carriers to raid mock enemy.
