Lockheed Martin Wins $74 Million To Evaluate Cost Of US Navy’s Freedom Variant LCS Program

Lockheed Martin has won a $74 million contract to assess engineering and production challenges and evaluate cost and schedule risks for US Navy’s Freedom variant Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) program.

The contract also includes production challenges, provide engineering and design services, and evaluate the cost and schedule risks from affordability efforts to reduce LCS acquisition and lifecycle costs for Freedom variant LCS program core LCS class services, LCS class services, and special studies, analyses and reviews, US Department of Defense said in a statement Thursday.

Work is expected to be completed by May 2017.
