Ukroboronprom, Reliance To Modernize Indian BMP-3 Armored Vehicles

Ukroboronprom’s subsidiary SpetsTehnoEksport and Indian Reliance Defence have signed a memorandum on joint participation in BMP-2 modernization for the Indian Army.

Cooperation primarily relates to the manufacture and supply of components and systems for improving BMP mobility, modernization of sighting and fire control systems. Indian park of different BMP-2 versions consists of about 2000 vehicles. Most of them require modernization and combat characteristics improvement, the company said in a statement last Friday.

“Enhancing cooperation with India will allow us moving to a new level, providing stable inflow of foreign currency. These funds will be used for production modernization and manufacture of modern military equipment for Ukrainian Army,” said Ukroboronprom Deputy Director General for Foreign Economic Activity Denis Gurak.

Reliance Defence Limited took a view of the transport aircraft An-124-100 “Ruslan” and AN-225 “Mriya,” and the short take-off and landing military transport aircraft An-70. They assessed the possibility of An-158 passenger aircraft and An-178 transport aircraft during demonstration flights.

The documents signed are the result of the participation of Ukroboronprom enterprises at arms and equipment expo “DefExpo-2016″ and negotiations, initiated by SE.

In 2016 Ukroboronprom holds a course for transition to high-tech manufacturing, international standards (NATO) and supplying the army with modern types of armaments. The State Concern expands cooperation with NATO and the EU countries, as defined by the strategic course of the state.

In 2015 Ukroboronprom export contracts amounted to more than $ 1.3 billion.
