Fishermen of Thanh Hoa Province have reportedly found an ejection seat on Sunday that is believed to be part of a Vietnam Air Force fighter jet that crashed into the East Sea earlier this month.

The object was found at about 10 nautical miles southeast of Me Island, in the area where a search operation is ongoing for the Sukhoi Su-30 MK2, Col. Hoang Minh Luyen of Thanh Hoa Border Guard Command was quoted as saying by Thanh Nien News.

He said Nguyen Van Son, 44, and his crew were fishing on Sunday morning when they found the object stuck in their nets. Son came back to shore to hand it over to local authorities.

The Russian-made plane crashed on Jun. 14 on a training mission, according to the defense ministry. One pilot was rescued and the body of the other was found on three days later.

During the search for the jet and its pilots, another airplane crashed in bad weather two days later. All nine crew members on board the Coast Guard's Casa 212 were confirmed dead last week, and four bodies have been found so far.
