Pakistan on Wednesday inducted its third ATR aircraft and Scaneagle UAV to the navy’s aviation fleet to increase effectiveness and enhance operational flexibility and range.
The Induction of ATR Aircraft is part of Pakistan Navy’s aviation vision 2030, Naval Chief Admiral Zakaullah said addressing the induction ceremony at the PNS Mehran base in Karachi of Pakistan. The Scaneagle UAV is built by Insitu, a Boeing subsidiary.
The country's Navy is ready to face challenges on maritime security, Zakaullah who was also the chief guest on the occasion was quoted as saying by Geo Tv Wednesday.
Pakistan Navy Air Arm has come a long way since its inception in the early seventies, The Naval Chief, Admiral Zakaullah added.
The ATR is a widely operated twin-engine turboprop aircraft and is equipped with ‘traffic collision avoidance system’ (TCAS) as well as autopilot and high efficiency 6-blade propellers.
The Scaneagle UAV can be adaptated for a variety of reconnaissance and surveillance roles.
