Indian MoD RFI For Light Armored Vehicles For IAF

Indian Ministry of Defense (MoD) has issued a Request for Information to procure approximate 160 to 200 Light Bullet Proof Vehicles from Indian vendors for the Indian Air Force (IAF) in the next financial year.

The vehicles are required by IAF for Quick Reaction Team to counter sub-conventional threats to IAF in real time, the RFI stated Tuesday.

According to the RFI, the vehicle should have a total of seven firing ports are to be provided. Firing ports must enable preventive fire from inside the vehicle. The vehicle should be equipped with Bullet Proof Glasses above the firing port. The vehicle should be equipped with a 360º traversing mount on roof and to be able to mount & fire a 5.56mmINSAS LMG and 7.62mm LMG, one at a time.

The LAV engine should have a life of 1,00,000 kms. The vehicle should have maximum permissible ground clearance (Minimum 215 mm). The vehicle should have a payload capability of not less than 550 Kg (including storage of drinking water). The vehicle should cater for effective cooling / heating / ventilation inside the vehicle to ensure crew comfort in all atmospheric conditions. The vehicle should have long operating range on level highways on internal fuel.

The RFP is likely to be issued in the second quarter of 2017.
