Vietnam’s Defence Minister Gen Ngo Xuan Lich is likely to hold talks on the possible sale of India’s indigenously-developed BRAHMOS supersonic cruise missile during his four-day visit to New Delhi next month.
Defence sources told PTI that Gen Lich will arrive on December 3 and will hold talks with his Indian counterpart Manohar Parrikar and one of the issue that is likely to come up for discussion is the possible sale of BrahMos missiles.
Vietnam had shown interest in the cruise missile based on its territorial dispute with China. India has in principle agreed to sell the missiles to them but negotiations are still on, PTI reports. Russia, which is a partner of India in development of BrahMos missiles has agreed with the deal.
Other issues that are likely to come up include the much delayed project to train Vietnamese pilots on the Su 30, sources said.
