Hanwha Techwin Co., a South Korean firm has won a 280 billion won (US$260 million) deal to build 96 K-9 self-propelled howitzers for a state-run company in Poland.
It will deliver 96 self-propelled howitzers to Huta Stalowa Wola from 2017 to 2023, Yonhap reports, quoting a company official.
"We are seeking to export the equipment to other European countries based on the shipments to Poland," a company official said.
Previously, the company received an 83.2 billion won order to build 24 K-9 self-propelled howitzers for the same company in 2014, with the delivery completed in October, the statement said.
The K-9 self-propelled howitzer, jointly developed by Hanwha Techwin and the Agency for Defense Development in 1998, has been deployed to the military in 2000, it said.
