Philippines has received two more FA-50PH fighter jets from South Korea.
The Philippine Air Force, with the current delivery has received a total of eight fighters. The two aircraft arrived at the Haribon Hangar, Air Force City at Clark Air Base in Pampanga Wednesday.
Philippines had ordered 12 supersonic trainers for P18.9 billion (US $376 million) in 2014 from Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) as part of its military modernization program.
The rest of the jets are scheduled to be delivered in September.
“We expect the delivery of the jets to be completed within the year,” PAF chief Lt. Gen. Edgar Fallorina was quoted as saying by Philstar Tuesday.
The arrival of the aircraft is expected to further strengthen the fighting and defense capabilities of the PAF. — with report from Michael Punongbayan.
