HAL Gets AL-31 Engine Manufacturing Orders For Su-30MKI

India’s Hindustan Aeronautics has received orders worth INR 21,000 crores ($3.2 billion) that includes AL-31 engines for Su-30MKI, 12 Do-228 aircraft for the Indian Navy and 32 ALH for the Indian Navy and the Coast Guard during fiscal 2016-17.

HAL produced 12 Su-30MKI aircraft in Phase-IV similar to the previous fiscal year. The company also produced 24 ALH, overhauling of 197 aircraft/helicopters, 473 engines and 178 new aero-structures.

HAL has manufactured parts of Su-30MKIs from the raw material stage with complete transfer of technology from IRKUT Corporation under Phase IV of the assembly. Nashik facility of the firm is domestically manufacturing over 31,500 components that are integrated into the fighter jet.

The company conducted a maiden flight of home-made HTT-40 engine. Light Combat Aircraft flights were also conducted with fixed air to air refuelling probe, the company said in a statement last Saturday.

HAL has achieved the highest ever turnover of INR 17406 crores ($2.6 billion) for the financial year ending March 31, 2017.

“It is business as usual for us with the Company doing well on expected lines. We also contributed around INR 800 crores ($123 million) to the Government exchequer by way of interim dividend. This is in addition to INR 162 crores ($24 million) paid to Government as dividend tax. The PBT stood at INR 3294 crores ($507 million),” said T. Suvarna Raju, CMD, HAL. 
               
HAL’s total sales for the year 2015-16 stood at INR 16736 crores ($2.5 billion) and the PBT was at INR 3288 crores ($506 million).
