Raytheon Wins $327M US Navy Contract For Missile Defense Radars

The US Navy has awarded a contract worth $327 million to Raytheon to produce three Air and Missile Defense Radar units.

“Raytheon Co., Marlborough, Massachusetts, is being awarded a $327,146,998 fixed-price-incentive (firm target) modification to a previously awarded contract (N00024-14-C-5315) to exercise options for Air and Missile Defense Radar low-rate initial production,” the US Department of Defense announced in a press release Monday.

Work will be performed in Marlborough, Massachusetts, and is expected to be completed by October 2020. 

“This modification will provide for the first three Air and Missile Defense Radar low-rate initial production units, including non-recurring engineering efforts in support of production,” the release added.

Also known as AN/SPY-6(V), AMDR supports long range, exoatmospheric detection, tracking and discrimination of ballistic missiles plus defense against air and surface threats. The system will be installed on next-generation Flight III Arleigh Burke destroyers.
