Canadian Sniper Shoots ISIS Miltant From 3.5 kilometers Using TAC-50 Rifle

A sniper in Canadian special forces has kill-shot an IS militant from 2.1 miles (3.5 km) away using Mcmillan TAC-50 rifle.

The soldier shot from a high rise building. He, being a member of Joint Force task 2, has worked in tandem with observer, who aids in spotting the target. 

The TAC-50 is an American-made tactical rifle that uses .50-calibre 'BMG' cartridges, which stands for 'Browning Machine Gun'. It took about 10 minutes to spot target and hit a stationary fighter standing in front of a wall.

The kill was independently verified by video camera and other data, The Globe and Mail reported.

A Daesh attack on Iraqi Security Forces was disrupted due to the shot. If bomb was chosen to drop, it could have killed many civilians in the area. Since it was shot from so far away, the militants had no clue of what was happening.

However, it was not easy task since the shooter should take into account the wind speed, raising downward motion of the bullet as it loses speed over such a long distance.

The sniper has created world record by shooting from a distance of 3540 meters. The previous record was held by British sniper, Craig Harrison, who shot and killed a Taliban militant from 2,475 metres in 2009 using an L115A3 long range rifle.
