A member of the UAE royal family, Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, 27, was injured while four soldiers were killed when their helicopter crashed while on duty in Yemen’s shabwa Province on August 11.

Two others were also hurt when the helicopter went down the cause of which was described as mechanical failure by UAE’s National newspaper. The UAE Army is part of the Saudi-led coalition which is fighting a brutal war against the Houti Shiite rebels who had earlier deposed Yemen’s Sunni president.

Prince Sheikh Zayed is the grandson of the country's founding father and has served in the elite Presidential Guard.

The funerals of four UAE soldiers who died in a helicopter crash in Yemen on Friday took place on Saturday night.

The helicopter was on “a regular mission” in Shabwa province in Yemen while taking part in a Saudi-led campaign targeting Shiite rebels there, the newspaper said.

A report in Iran’s Press TV said quoting Yemen's official Saba news agency, the chopper crashed in the Amqeel area of Ar Rawdah district in the south-central Yemeni province of Shabwah on Friday afternoon.

It showed the photograph of a crashed chopper which it claimed was the UAE Armed Forces helicopter.
