Indonesia's Defense Minister Ryamizard Ryacudu said on Thursday that the Russian-built Su-35S ‘Flanker-E’ multirole fighter jets ordered for the country's air force come with an entire weapons package.

"They will be well-equipped with weapons because we have additional weapons on discount," Ryacudu, stated at the Presidential Palace was quoted as saying by Antara News.

In September, Ryacudu had announced that Indonesia and Russia will sign purchase of 11 Su-35s in November. He confirmed in the report saying that “the total value (of the purchase) will be Rp16 trillion (US$1.17 billion)”.

The defense minister had told reporters in September that Indonesia is slated to export commodities equal to 50 percent of the total contract.

In August, Indonesian state-owned trading company PT Perusahaan Perdagangan Indonesia and Russia’s state-owned defense holding company Rostec concluded a memorandum of understanding on possible countertrade deals.

Rostec has agreed to buy from PPI, a combination of processed rubber and its derivatives, palm oil and its derivatives, machinery, coffee and its derivatives, cocoa and its derivatives, textiles, tea, footwear, processed fish, furniture, copra, plastics and its derivatives, resins, paper, spices, defense industry products, and other products.

In 2003, Indonesia had also paid for Russian-made SU-27SK and SU-30MK fighter jets through counter-trade deals.
