Qatari Military Skydivers to Jump off Canadian Twin Otter Aircraft

Qatar has signed an agreement to buy Twin Otter DHC 6-400 aircraft from Canadian Viking Air for skydiving operations.

Commander of the Amiri Air Force Major General (Pilot) Mubarak Mohammed Al Kamit Al Khayarin and Viking’s Regional Sales Director for Africa, Middle East, and Asia Pacific Peter Walker signed the agreement at Doha Air Base, The Peninsula reported Tuesday.

Vice-chairman of skydiving committee Flight Lt. Abdullah Al Hadfah said that the Twin Otter is one of the best skydiving aircraft from Canada’s Viking Air.

Al Hadfah said the purchase came under the directives of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defence Affairs H E Dr. Khalid bin Mohammed Al Attiyah, with the aim of supporting the skydiving team of the Joint Special Forces.

The acquisition of these aircraft is an addition to the modern systems of Amiri Forces.
