Kenya Naval Ship Returns to Base after Mid-life Refit

Kenya received its naval ship, Shujaa, following the ship’s midlife refit program at Damen Shipyards in Netherlands.

“The Cabinet Secretary for Ministry of Defence Amb Raychelle Omamo received the Kenya Navy Ship Shujaa in Mombasa following the ship's 21-month training voyage & midlife refit programme at the Damen Shipyards in the Kingdom of The Netherlands,” the Kenyan MoD said in a statement Tuesday.

KNS Shujaa has been in The Netherlands since 6th November 2016 for a refit programme. Shujaa is a Research Vessel built in 1996.
