The CaMo project, initiated six years ago, aims at enhancing interoperability between the land forces of France and Belgium. Lieutenant General Goetynck emphasized that “the two countries support and strengthen each other”, both operationally and industrially.

Defense Minister Ludivine Dedonder added that “a strong industry is essential for a strong defence” and emphasized the crucial role Defense plays for the economy. The collaboration between Belgian firm MOL CY and French KNDS as a testament to this synergy.

The project anticipates the delivery of 382 Griffon armored vehicles between 2025 and 2031, with final finishing to be completed by MOL CY.

Equipped with advanced weapon systems developed by FN Herstal, these vehicles will offer versatile capabilities ranging from 7.62 mm to 12.7 mm calibers, as well as a 40mm grenade launcher. Additionally, 60 Jaguars, armored reconnaissance and combat vehicles, are also part of the CaMo contract signed in 2019.

The first battalion to transition to the Griffon is slated for 2026, with plans for the installation of communications, command, and tactical systems. Lieutenant General Goetynck noted that the CaMo program extends beyond vehicle assembly, with recent efforts to strengthen ties with Luxembourg.
