A new 120 mm mobile mortar system Bars-8MMK which uses automated deployment and fire control systems has been developed and tested by the Ukrainian Army.
According to a Ukrainian National Security Council press statement, the mobile mortar system is based on on the “Bars-8” armored vehicle. The crew of the mobile system consists of three people.
The system needs about a minute to be deployed and prepared for firing and only 20 seconds to leave the position. The “Bars-8” armored vehicle can be quickly maneuvered in and out of firing position.
The Bars-8MMK system can be integrated with any information management system of command and control of troops, including those used in NATO.
Oleksandr Turchynov, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council, said that after the tests are completed and the system is adopted, it will be used by the Land Forces, Air Assault Forces, and Special Operations Forces.
