A Sukhoi Su-24 Algerian fighter jet has crashed during an overnight training exercise, killing its two crew members, the defense ministry said Thursday.

The helicopter that crashed in Rechaiga, about 250 kilometers (155 miles) southwest of the capital Algiers, was on a “night mission of reconnaissance,” the ministry said in statement.

In April 2018, 257 people were killed when Ilyushin I-76 military aircraft crashed shortly after taking off. According to the defnse ministry, majority of the dead were army personnel and their families. Ten crew members were also killed in the mishap.
