China Selects Airbus H175 Chopper For SAR Operations
H175 Helicopter

Chinese Ministry of Transport's Rescue and Salvage Bureau (CRS) has picked Airbus' H175 helicopter to conduct Search And Rescue (SAR) operations during the ongoing Heli-Expo 2019 in Georgia, USA.

The H175’s SAR configuration was chosen for its endurance of about 5.5 hours,  1000km range, and the Helionix avionics system which eases pilot workload and improves situational awareness, the company said in a statement Wednesday.

Powered by Pratt & Whitney Canada’s PT6 engine – the PT6C 67E – the H175 can accommodate maximum of four persons per row. It has a cruise speed of about 270 kmph, hover out of ground effect (HOGE) with a maximum 7.8-tonne take-off weight at 5,800 ft in ISA+20°C conditions; and extensive power reserve and heli-deck performance (PC1) at maximum take-off weight in ISA+20°C conditions.

The helicopters will perform SAR missions in marine traffic as well as other important offshore areas like the Bohai Sea and the Yellow Sea, according to the company.
