Kockums to Conduct Södermanland Refit

Kockums receipt of an order for a general refit of the Royal Swedish Navy submarine HMS Sdermanland has now been confirmed. This simultaneously signifies the passing of an important milestone concerning the Ledsys Ubt (submarine command-and-control system) project, since this refit will include installation of a new command-and-control system.>> The contract, signed with the Swedish Defence Matriel Administration, has been reviewed at Musk, in the presence of representatives from Malm, Karlskrona and Musk. Project Manager Per Nilson presented the costs frame and planning for the project, and defined a number of important waypoints for the forthcoming project.>> Production has already started. A general overhaul will be conducted of selected sections within the hull, while a new command-and-control system is being installed. In strictly practical terms, the work will be carried out at Musk as a new-build project.> This is an extensive project and it is naturally important to achieve the waypoints that have now been determined.
