Russian Aerospace Forces (VKS) will receive 30 Kamov Ka-52 attack helicopters by the end of 2022, Russian Deputy Defense Minister Aleksey Krivoruchko said Tuesday.
"The Progress Aviation plant is currently working on a long-term state contract for delivering Ka-52 scout attack helicopters. We expect to receive 30 more helicopters by 2022, including eight helicopters that we expect to receive until the end of this year," Krivoruchko told TASS Tuesday.
The reconnaissance-strike helicopter Ka-52 "Alligator" is designed to destroy tanks, armored and unarmored combat vehicles, manpower, helicopters and other enemy aircraft. The helicopter is equipped with the most modern avionics and powerful weapons, which can be configured for various combat missions. In addition, the Ka-52 "Alligator" is equipped with visibility reduction devices that reduce, dissipate and distort the thermal traces of engines, electronic protection system, as well as active countermeasures.
The gunship’s coaxial rotor system and enhanced longitudinal control enable it to effectively maneuver and perform complex aerobatic operations.
