Raytheon To Provide Logistics Support To US Navy’s Ospreys

Raytheon has won a $30 million contract to provide logistics support to the US Navy’s Boeing V-22 Osprey aircraft.

“This order provides for the procurement of V-22 Software Support Activity (SSA) systems and software engineering, avionics integration and testing, software testing, avionics acquisition support, and SSA operations to include classified and unclassified laboratories, configuration and data management, and release of avionics software products and related systems,” the US Department of Defense said in a statement Thursday.

Work expected to be completed in December 2021.

The V-22 Osprey is a multi-mission, tiltrotor military aircraft jointly developed by Bell helicopters and Boeing after the failure of Operation eagle claw during the Iran Hostage crisis in 1980. It is designed with both vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL), and short takeoff and landing (STOL) capabilities after a requirement for a new long range, High speed, Vertical take off aircraft was expressed.
