Denmark has announced a new donation of satellite communication services to Ukraine’s defense forces, provided through the European Defence Agency (EDA).s

This move marks Denmark’s first contribution of space-based capabilities to Ukraine via the EU's defense cooperation framework.

The donation is intended to enhance Ukraine’s access to secure and stable satellite-based communications amid its ongoing war with Russia. These services will enable Ukrainian forces to operate with improved coordination and resilience, particularly during military operations that rely heavily on uninterrupted, encrypted communication.

Danish Minister of Defense Troels Lund Poulsen said, “Space is a domain that is increasingly calling for defense policy attention. In close cooperation with the EU's defense agency, Denmark has now contributed to strengthening Ukraine's satellite-based communications in their defense against Russia.”

The package includes access to European-produced receiver terminals that will be integrated into Ukraine’s military communication infrastructure. These systems are expected to play a crucial role in command and control operations, logistics coordination, and real-time situational awareness.

According to the European Defence Agency, Ukraine had expressed a specific demand for such technology. The secure and robust connectivity enabled by these terminals can be vital during frontline operations and strategic planning.

The EDA anticipates that additional EU member states may follow Denmark’s example and contribute similar satellite solutions, further enhancing collective European support for Ukraine and building greater resilience in the EU’s shared security landscape.

Officials say the donation also aligns with wider efforts to expand Europe's technological independence in the space domain, which has become an increasingly critical component of modern defense strategy.
