One of Russia's Sukhoi Su-25UB fighter-bombers crashed in the Stavropol Region while on a routine training sortie killing both pilots onboard, Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement Tuesday.
"On September 3, a Sukhoi-25UB fighter-bomber crashed during a routine training flight. The rescue service is searching for the two missing pilots. The plane carried no ammunition. It crashed in an unpopulated area causing no destruction on the ground," the ministry said.
According to reports, the plane lost contact with its base prior to the accident. In the meantime, emergency services have found the crash site about 38 km south-west of the city of Budyonnovsk, stating that the jet has been completely destroyed.
