Russia has completed the shipment of second batch of S-400s to Turkey, making the country the first NATO-ally to own Russian air defense systems.
“The delivery of the second battery of the Russian S-400 missile defense system has been completed, Turkey's National Defense Ministry said in a statement on 15 September.
Turkey struck a $2.5 billion deal with Russia for S-400s in 2017. Delivery of first batch of systems concluded this 25 July, while shipment of second batch of S-400s commenced on 27 August.
The ministry further stated that training of Turkish personnel was still ongoing, and the system is expected to become operational in April 2020.
