Iraq Not Buying Russian S-400 Systems: Iraqi Ambassador to Russia

Earlier speculations of possibility of Iraq’s S-400 buy have been put to rest with the Iraqi Ambassador to Russia confirming that Baghdad has no plans on buying the Russian-made air defense missile systems.

"We don’t inted to buy the S-400s. People ask me this every time, but we are not having any negotiations with the Russian government on buying their weapons currently," said the Iraqi Ambassador to Russia as quoted by the Russian news outlet Avia.pro.

After a series of strikes by unknown aircraft on the territory of Iraq, local media reported that Baghdad is considering the purchase of Russia’s S-300 and S-400 air defense systems.
