Jean-Georges Malcor, SVP, Naval Division, has been appointed SVP, Aerospace Division,replacing François Quentin. The objective is to give this activity a new impulse following the insufficient economic performance of this division, particularly concerning the management of some major programmes. François Quentin will be offered a new position within the Group at a later date. Marc Darmon, currently CEO of Thales Communications within the Land & Joint Systems Division, replaces Jean-Georges Malcor as SVP, Naval Division. These nominations are effective immediately. Jean-Georges Malcor, 52, is a graduate of École Centrale de Paris. He also holds a Master of
Sciences degree from Stanford University, and a PhD from École des Mines. He began his career at the Thales group in the Underwater Activities division (1983-1987). He then moved to the Sydneybased Thomson Sintra Pacific Australia, becoming MD of the company (1990), Director of Marketing and Communications (1991), before becoming Director, Foreign Operations of Thomson Sintra Activités Sous-Marines (1993). In 1996, he was appointed MD of Thomson Marconi Sonar Australia and then the first MD of joint venture ADI (1999). In 2002, he became SVP, International Operations of Thales International. Since 2004, he was SVP, in charge of the Naval Division. Marc Darmon, 42, is a graduate of the French Ecole Polytechnique and the ENS Telecom
Engineering School in Paris. Marc Darmon started his career in the Alcatel group, occupying various positions, including Military Networks Director from 1996 to 1998. In 1998, he joined Thomson-CSF as Director of Military Infrastructure Networks. In 2000, he became General Manager of the Strategic Business Line “Networks”. In 2002, he became Vice-President, Strategic and Advanced Systems of the Communications Systems Business Group. In 2004, he became Managing Director of the Joint Systems Business Line (Communication Infrastructures, Space Communications, Command & Control, Electronic Warfare, Intelligence and Security Systems) of Thales. Since 2006, he was Chief Executive Officer of Thales Communications, within Thales’s Land & Joint Systems Division.
