A defense deal worth $3 billion (INR 21,560 crore) for helicopters and other military equipment will be signed between India and the United States on Tuesday.

"I'm pleased to announce that tomorrow our representatives will sign deals to sell over $3 billion, in the absolute finest state of the art military helicopters and other equipment to the Indian armed forces," US President Donald Trump said during the ‘Namaste Trump’ event being held at India’s Ahmedabad city.

The only deals currently in the offing are for Sikorsky MH-60R ‘Romeo’ Seahawk and Boeing Apache AH-64E helicopters that were greenlit by the Indian agreement in the recent days. The deal for two dozen Sikorsky rotorcraft is around $2.5 billion, while six Apaches will take the total bill to over $3 billion.

The US State Department also gave its nod to sell Integrated Air Defense Weapon System (IADWS) worth $1 billion to New Delhi recently.

“We make the greatest weapons ever made- airplanes, missiles, rockets and ships. We make the best and we’re dealing now with India. But this includes advanced air-defense systems and armed and unarmed aerial vehicles,” Trump claimed.
