Turkey to Build Drone Control Center in Eastern Anatolia

Turkey will build a drone control center to house some of its drones such as the Anka and the Bayraktar, in eastern Erzurum province to target militants in the Eastern Anatolia region.

The facility is expected to be operational soon, Turkish officials were quoted as saying by Daily Sabah on Thursday.

Domestically produced UAVs have been operational since 2015 and were used to support Turkey's fight against terror on its southern border and during cross-border operations in Syria, including Euphrates Shield in 2016-2017, Olive Branch in 2018, Peace Spring in 2019 and Spring Shield in 2020.

In its recent offensive, Turkey claims to have destroyed 8 Russian-made Syrian Pantsir anti-aircraft systems using its drones.
