A Pakistan Army Mushshak trainer aircraft crashed near Gujrat on Monday morning, killing both pilots on board.
“Pakistan Army training aircraft Mushshak on routine training mission crashed near Gujrat this morning,” the military’s media wing, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement.
On March 23, Pakistan lost an F-16 fighter when it crashed near Islamabad during rehearsals for the Pakistan Day Parade.
This is the fourth PAF aircraft to have crashed while on training missions in three months.
On February 12, A PAF trainer aircraft crashed while on a routine training mission near Takht Bhai in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's Mardan district. A spokesperson for the PAF had said that the pilot ejected safely before the crash.
In early February, a PAF Mirage aircraft, which was on a routine operational training mission, had crashed near the Lahore-Multan Motorway.The pilot had managed to eject safely in that incident as well.
Earlier in January, a PAF aircraft had crashed while on a training mission near Mianwali. Both pilots, Squadron Leader Haris bin Khalid and Flying Officer Ibaadur Rehman, aboard the PAF FT-7 aircraft had lost their lives in the crash.
