A Boeing 787-800 airplane operated by Qatar Airways collided with an Airbus A350-900 after strong winds dislodged the aircraft from chocks that secures its wheels.

"During extreme weather conditions, with storms and high winds of 70 knots, a parked Qatar Airways 787-800 briefly shifted from its chocks and made contact with a QR A350-900 on Thursday 30 April," Qatar Airways posted on its Twitter account.

The nose of the Boeing 787 was blown right into the fuselage of the Airbus A350, going by photographs being circulated on Twitter.

The statement added that the aircraft had been parked securely and chocked in accordance with AMM (aircraft maintenance manual) guidelines while operations at the airport had been temporarily suspended due to the high winds.

Qatar Airways asserted that no passengers or crew were onboard at the time of the incident, and that the 50-tonne aircraft suffered only minor damage.

The incident comes close on the heels of another- On April 13, heavy winds spun around a parked Japan Airlines (JAL) Boeing 737-800 airplane 90 degrees clockwise at the Narita Airport. Fierce winds either dislodged, or forced the plane over the wooden chocks.
