S.Korean Air Bases to Get Indra Surveillance Radars
South Korea’s arms procurement agency has contracted Spanish Indra to supply Airport Surveillance Radar (ASR) system for use at air bases.
Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA) said the deal is worth 70 billion won ($58.2 million).
Indra has previously supplied a secondary radar system to be installed at Jeju Airport; and has delivered latest Navigation, Surveillance and Air Traffic Management (ATM) Systems for Incheon International Airport in Seoul.
The Incheon project included the supply of a full range of ATM Systems consisting of two Primary and Secondary Surveillance Radars (PSR/MSSR), an ATM Automation System with over 50 positions, Navigation Systems (with ILS, DME and DVOR), as well as an Advanced-Surface Movement and Guidance System (A-SMGCS).
Indra claims the radar systems allow for the detection of aircraft at a range of up to 250 nautical miles.
