Russian firm Shvabe Holding has presented improved sights, PO104 and PO156, with interchangeable magnification at the Army-2020 International Military-Technical Forum.
Serial production of the sights is scheduled to begin this September. The equipment will be manufactured by Novosibirsk Instrument Making Plant (NPZ), Rostec said in a statement.
These sights are modified versions of PSU interchangeable magnification sights. Among the advantages of the new devices in a sealed design are a wide viewing angle, internal alignment mechanisms, a combined reticle for working in a dynamic target environment, a reticle arrangement in the front focal plane, a quick-release bracket mechanism, diopter movement of the eyepiece, as well as instant zoom switching by moving the lever to the bottom of the scope.
“The scopes have less weight and dimensions compared to the previous version, improved reticle options for various user tasks, so they can be of interest to a hunter, an athlete, and representatives of law enforcement agencies. There are no such developments in the country anymore,” said Vasily Rassokhin, general director of the refinery.
Manufacturers also note that the PO104 and PO156 sights on the weapon do not go beyond the dimensions of the receiver, and when carrying the weapon on the shoulder, they do not touch the shooter's ammunition elements.
Shvabe has also unveiled a magnifier for sights. The Spectrum magnifying telescope is presented in the form of a folding attachment. The product is installed on the Picatinny rail after the optical sight. Rostec claims it is resistant to high shock loads. At the expo, it is shown as part of the PK-4 energy-efficient sight.
The "Spectrum" telescope is designed for use with both hunting sights and the needs of law enforcement agencies in the interests of state security. The developer, the Novosibirsk Instrument Making Plant (refinery) of the Shvabe holding, presents the first prototype at the forum. It is available for testing during the event.
“When installing the product together with a sight with a magnification of one time, the user gets a threefold approach of the target. The folding mechanism provides a quick and smooth transition to target shooting. The product is compact and weighs no more than 300 grams,” noted Rassokhin.
