F-16 suffers tyre burst during Aero India 2009
At final day of Aero India 2009, a tyre of an F-16N Super Viper fighter aircraft burst on landing. Lockheed Martin, the manufacturer of F-16N Super Viper fighter aircraft said in a statement that no one was injured. It was the same aircraft in which Indian Olympic gold medallist Abhinav Bindra had flown on Thursday. Paul Randal, the pilot of the aircraft, successfully brought the aircraft to a halt and escaped unhurt. The emergency drill was activated and fire tenders and an ambulance rushed to the aircraft. Lockheed Martin said "The tyre was changed within 30 minutes, which is a perfect example of this aircraft's maintainability”.
