A Russian warship collided with a Swedish container ship Ice Rose in the entrance to the Baltic on Wednesday morning.

The incident reportedly occured due to thick fog. The 12,400-ton container ship was heading from St. Petersburg to Gothenburg (Sweden), Danish media reported.

Sweden sent three ships, a coast guard and a helicopter to the area of ​​the incident as part of rescue efforts. No casualties were reported.

The Russian warship is believed to be the 311 Kazanets Project 1331M Parchim-Class light frigate. The ship, which has yet to be formally identified, does not appear to have been transmitting on Automated Information system) designed to help avoid collisions
