The U.S. Air Force has awarded University of Dayton Research Institute (UDRI) a contract valued $60.2 million to for advanced material processes.
This contract provides for research, development, test, evaluation, qualification, integration and transition of advanced aerospace coatings technologies; research on erosion phenomena, development of new test methods and equipment for evaluation and qualification of erosion-resistant materials; development of advanced corrosion-resistant materials and processes that would minimize the effects of corrosion on safety, cost, and system availability; and predict the payoff of improved corrosion performance resulting from alternate designs, modified operational environments, and new corrosion-fighting technologies.
Work is expected to be complete by December 30, 2025.
