Greece will receive Rafale jets starting with the arrival of a used aircraft from French Air Force stock in June 2021, followed by one every month over the next six months.

The first six Greek fighters will come armed with Meteor and Exocet missiles. It will be able to carry Mica and Scalp missiles some of which Greece already has.

Twelve Rafale aircraft will follow in 2022, of which six will be second-hand ones. The aircraft will be of the F3R standard. The package worth €2.5 billion includes Meteor and Scalp missiles, Greek publication Pentapostagmara reported today.

On Thursday, Minister of Defense Nikos Panagiotopoulos will inform the Parliament’s Armament Programs and Contracts Committee about the Rafale project. Immediately after the contract is finalized, four Greek pilots will leave for France to begin training.

The 18 French fighter jets will operate from Squadron 332 in Tanagra.
