U.S. Navy has awarded $438 million contract to General Electric Co. for F414-GE-400 engines

General Electric Co. has been awarded a $438,138,755 modification to a previously awarded firm fixed price contract to exercise an option for the Fiscal Year 2009 full rate production of 90 F414-GE-400 engines and 90 F414-GE-400 device kits for U.S. Navy. In addition, this option provides for 26 F414-GE-400 engines and 24 F414-GE-400 device kits in support of the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF). The F414-GE-400 engine powers the F/A-18E/F Super Hornet aircraft. Work will be performed in Lynn, Mass., (50 percent); Madisonville, Ky., (22 percent); Hooksett, N.H., (13 percent); Albuquerque, N.M., (6 percent); Rutland, Vt., (5 percent); Dayton, Ohio (2 percent); Evandale, Ohio, (1 percent); and Bromont, Canada, (1 percent), and is expected to be completed in Apr. 2011. This contract combines purchases for the U.S. Navy ($343,713,854; 78.4 percent) and the Government of Australia, ($94,424,901; 21.6 percent) under the Foreign Military Sales Program. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year.
