China has revealed its highest-altitude military post in Tibet Autonomous Region to the public for the first time, close to the border with India.

In order to enhance border management, the People's Liberation Army (PLA) Tibet military command established the post in Xigaze in early 2020 at an altitude of 5,592 meters, CCTV reported Sunday. Last year saw China and India went through a series of border conflicts and stand-offs; including a bloody brawl in Galwan Valley in June.

A border defense company based in Gamba, north of India’s Sikkim state, was dispatched to the post. "We built this with spades and pickaxes and will defy death to defend it," Li Xin, an instructor with the company, was quoted as saying by CCTV.

A soldier named Lu Zhouyang told CCTV that they only had shelter behind a big stone at the beginning. But things are getting much better now, as there is running water and roads are being built, he said.

The PLA Tibet Military Command have deployed drones for logistics missions, armored vehicles, Z-20 and Z-10 helicopters, unmanned helicopters and tactical information systems to share real-time combat data.
