Ukraine has sought an international partner to revive its Kharkiv State Aviation Manufacturing Company (KSAMC) that manufactures An-74 aircraft and has 20 planes in various stages of production.
According to a proposal statement by state concern Ukroboronprom, renewal of aircraft production is possible in the short term. The partner should undertake to repay existing debts of the KSAMC, provide a loan for initiation of production of the aircraft besides consider An-74 modernization.
The An-74’s advantages over its closest international competitors such as the C-27J/ C-235/295 aircraft include higher power-to-weight ratio and a lower price tag.
KSAMC’s production facilities can annually produce approximately 12 aircraft (An-74 or An-140) per year.
The partner has the right to sell An-74s and should buy a certain number of aircraft at a pre-determined price.
The company will select a partner based on purchase price of an aircraft, amount the partner would invest in An-74 modernization besides upgrading existing production capacity, and the number of planes it plans to manufacture annually.
