The U.S. Army today awarded General Dynamics approximately $10 million to support Abrams tanks in service with Saudi Arabia.
“General Dynamics Land Systems, was awarded a $9.59 million modification contract for Abrams Systems technical support. Fiscal 2019 and 2021 other procurement, Army funds; fiscal 2021 research, development, test and evaluation, Army funds; and fiscal 2021 Foreign Military Sales (Saudi Arabia) funds in the amount of $9.59 million were obligated at the time of the award,” a U.S. DoD release today said.
The Saudi Arabian Army has over 350 Abrams M1A1 and M1A2 tanks. The latter are being upgraded to the M1A2S configuration featuring an improved hunter/killer capability with second-generation FLIR.
