Cisco Signs $1.2B Software Contract with Defense Information Systems Agency

The U.S. Defense Information Systems Agency awarded Cisco a contract valued $1.2 billion to provide software services.

“Cisco Systems Inc., San Jose, California, was awarded a single-award indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract with a ceiling of $1.18 billion for brand name Cisco Smart Net Total Care and Software Support Services for users across the Department of Defense,” a U.S. DoD release today said.

The period of performance is a one-year base period and two one-year option periods, for a total contract life cycle of three years.

Cisco’s Smart Net software is designed to help resolve IT issues and keep enterprise software for large organizations up to date, according to its website.

DISA has been consolidating the networks of combat support agencies and taking on the responsibility to run their help desks. The Defense Enclave Services (DES) contract worth roughly $11.7 billion was expected to go to an IT service provider to help consolidate DOD support agency network.

It is unclear if today’s contract is directly related to that initiative.
