A Russian MiG-29 fighter crashed in the Astrakhan region on Wednesday night, making it the third such incident involving a Russian military aircraft in a week.

Pilot of the MiG-29 was killed in the accident. The jet was conducting a routine training mission when the unfortunate incident occurred, press office of the Southern Military District reported.

A commission of the Main Command of the Russian Aerospace Forces has been dispatched to the site to study what caused the crash.

The former was deployed in Turkey for a fire-fighting mission when the accident happened. All eight people onboard were killed in the incident. The Ilyushin jet, being designed to replace Antonov An-26, crashed during a test flight, killing three crew members.
