Philippines Signs Anti-Ship Missile Contract with BrahMos Aerospace
Brahmos Shore-based Missile Launch

Philippines’s Department of National Defense (DND) has signed ceremonial contract worth Php 18.9 Billion ($368 Million) with Brahmos Aerospace to acquire a Shore-based Anti-ship Missile System for the Philippine Navy.

The acquisition project was first conceptualized in 2017 and the Philippines is planning to acquire three batteries of the Anti-ship Missile System.

Equipping our Navy with this vital asset is imperative as the Philippines continues to protect the integrity of its territory and defend its national interests,” Defense Secretary Delfin N. Lorenzana said.

As the world’s fastest supersonic cruise missiles, the Brahmos Missiles will provide deterrence against any attempt to undermine our sovereignty and sovereign rights, especially in the West Philippine Sea,” the Defense Secretary added.
