Israeli MoD Revoked, Suspended 3,600 Defense Export Licenses in 2021

The Israeli Ministry of Defence (MoD) suspended and revoked more than 3.600 defence export licences in 2021 following a review of the target countries in terms of human rights and political stability. 

“Professionals in the Ministry of Defense and in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs are constantly conducting policy and strategic situation assessments and adapting defense export policies to developments and events in the various countries,” Stated a press release by the MoD.

The press release also stated that in the field of cyber, the Ministry of Defense in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is working to tighten control over cyber exporters and has published an updated version of the 'End User Statement', which each country must sign as a condition for issuing licenses to export. 

The Defense Export Control Division of the Ministry of Defense (AFI) is currently summarizing the year of activity 2021 and revealed that about 18,000 applications for marketing licenses to about 190 countries and about 5,300 applications for export licenses to about 130 countries were processed during 2021. About 1,700 exporters are currently registered in the Defense Export Register and About 11,000 active products are registered with AFI.
