S. Korea Pitches K2 Battle Tank to Norway
K2 Black Panther Main Battle Tank

South Korea has proposed Hyundai Rotem's K2 Black Panther battle tank for Norway’s tank procurement project.

The pitch to Norway was made during a meeting between the defense chiefs of South Korea and Norway held to discuss regional security and arms industry cooperation. South Korean defense minister Suh Wook met his Norwegian counterpart, Odd Roger Enoksen, in Oslo on Tuesday. It marks the first visit by a South Korean defense chief to the country.

Enoksen stated that the K-2 tank's bid for Norway's defense project itself is "meaningful."

In 2017, the Norwegian parliament decided that the Armed Forces should have new tanks. The contract is estimated to be worth NOK 19.3 billion (USD 2.17 billion).

The other company that's eyeing the deal is Germany's Krauss-Maffei Wegmann (KMW) with its Leopard 2A7.

The signing of the contract is planned for this year. The new tanks will not be delivered until 2025 at the earliest.
