Lockheed Martin will test and integrate M-Code GPS technology in the Joint Air to Surface Standoff Missile (JASSM), the U.S. Air Force’s main ground attack missile.
The contract is worth $32 million. As per an official Pentagon release, the company will provide support for JASSM, Long Range Anti-Ship Missile, JASSM‐ER, and any JASSM variant in the areas of M-Code test and integration.
M-code military GPS signals are resistant to jamming and spoofing. Defense products that rely on GPS for locating position, are vulnerable to enemy jamming. However, the newer M-Code signals are currently considered the best solution to aircraft, missiles and UAV to counter electronic warfare systems of the enemy which targets the GPS link.
Work will be performed in Orlando, Florida, and is expected to be complete by July 21, 2025.
