Turkish Bayraktar UAVs to be Put into Service in Albania Soon
Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama

Signing a satellite service contract with U.S.-based company Satellogic, Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama said another deal for Turkish-made Bayraktar TB2 combat drones will be inked and put into military service soon after their delivery.

"These satellites will be followed very soon by (Bayraktar) drones. In line with new developments, we decided to complete them and buy armed drones,'' Edi Rama said.

The $6 million contract between the Albanian National Civil Defense Agency and Satellogic USA will provide Albania with advanced defense and security technology.

"Of course, armed drones are for extreme situations against terrorism or a potential enemy. However, these drones have a number of complementary functions in harmony with satellites,” he added.

This April, Serbia also reaffirmed its intention to purchase Turkish-made combat drones. Countries including Ukraine, Qatar and Azerbaijan have already purchased drones. Last year, Poland became the first European Union and NATO member state to acquire drones from Turkey.
