The Federal Security Service (FSB) and the Investigative Committee (IC) of Russia have identified Kirill Budanov, head of military intelligence of Ukraine as the organizer of the Crimea bridge.
A truck carrying the explosive blew up over the bridge on October 8 killing three people and partially damaging the oversea bridge. Besides, two car spans partially collapsed and seven railway tanks with fuel caught fire.
“The Federal Security Service, together with the Investigative Committee, established that the organizer of the terrorist attack on the Crimean bridge was the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry, its head Kirill Budanov, employees and agents,” a report in the Russian MoD's TV channel, Tvzvezda said quoting the FSB.
In addition, the FSB detained eight accomplices of the terrorist attack, including five citizens of Russia, three citizens of Ukraine and Armenia.
In another incident, the FSB prevented a terrorist attack aimed at a transport terminal in Bryansk . planned by the Ukrainian special services.
“As a result of a complex of operational-search measures, a citizen of Ukraine, born in 1967, was detained, who, on the instructions of the SBU, arrived from Kyiv in transit through Estonia to one of the border regions of Russia, where he seized a cache prepared by the Ukrainian special service, with components of explosive devices,” it said quoting a FSB statement.
An explosive device made by him on the basis of the warhead of an anti-tank guided missile, weighing about three kilograms, as well as means of communication to maintain contact with the SBU officers, were confiscated from the man.
